You spawn in a forest within sight of a mesa biome. The mesa biome contains a multitude of mineshafts. (Hint: climb some trees and look to the east.) Some of the areas have a good cache of loot. The version of Minecraft was specifically 1.11.2. The screen shot shows three of the loot filled minecarts . Upper right in the distance is near where your character spawns.
