you spawn in a taiga biome with snow in it it has a desert biome next to it and a swamp biome next to the desert if you dig down in the desert you will find a cave but you shoud go deeper if you want to find DIAMONDS the desert has some kind of strange stone formation also be sure to check out the npc village over the montain of sand and sandstone
