You spawn at the edge of a normal Taiga and plains. Behind you about 150 blocks is a Mega Taiga that contains two villages, but neither have blacksmiths. In the opposite direction of the Mega Taiga is another village on the edge of an Extreme Hills near spawn, and that one contains a blacksmith with good loot. It contains 4 iron ingots, 3 obsidian, a set of iron armor without the chestplate, and two apples. Under the plains directly in front of spawn, is a good mineshaft.
