You spawn on the edge of a swampt/taiga biome. You will see a small interesting rock. Walk in that direction and continue until you reach a large extreme hills biome. If you follow that one to the end you will end up at a very interesting overhang. If you walk in the opposite direction you will find a village in a desert biome very close by.
