Nice wide open plains with a zombie dungeon, Extreme Hills and a Jungle Biome to the West (slightly south for hills, north for Jungle) and an easily accessible double ravine are all within easy walking distance of the spawn point.

I haven't done a whole load of building or exploring on this map so there may be other things I haven't found yet, but a not too bad place to start, I've seen worse.

This is my favorite location to build, at the back there is a cave system just past the pumpkin patch and to the left there is a hole into a double ravine right at the intersection.
