great start for a Nether rush, spawn on the edge of a desert and Savannah, with a surface cave nearby that lead DIRECTLY to a dungeon. desert also has a village and temple not to far from spawn, and savannah has a ravine with access to a mine that takes you all the way down to diamond level.

If Floating islands is more your thing, than just follow the border of the desert/savannah a short ways past the ravine and you find a large one, complete with its own tree if you want to survival island it up there.
