You first spawn in a very small plains surrounded by dark forest with some horses, nothing special here. However; there are two villages one to the north across a small ocean and one to the east a few hundred blocks away. Both of these villages have blacksmith shops. The one to the north has 5 obsidian while the one to the east has 6 diamonds, two iron pickaxes, and two pairs of iron pants. With these combined you could easily make an enchantment table very early in the game or just use the diamonds for some tools.
